The Fat Funk Rock Story from the Drummer, Writer, Arranger, Producer, that has been through Heaven and Hell in the life of show business without ever using drugs or alcohol. That is Fats Gallon.
Fats has performed and been on the road since he was seventeen years of age.
Fats Father is “Wildman Steve” a well known MC and comedian and radio Disc Jockey. But Fats credit his success to his mom.
Fats has played drums for legendary top Entertainers such as The Dells, The Manhattans, Sly Stone, Chi-Lites, Latimore, Regina Bell, Betty Wright, Millie Jackson, Mary Davis from the S.O.S Band, Doug Wimbish from Funk Rock group Living Colour, Lawanda Page known as Aunt Esther from T.V. show Sanford and Son.
When Fats was about eighteen, he had performed with Sam and Dave, Joe Tex, Johnnie Taylor, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Rudy Ray Moore, Lonnie Young Blood, Anthony Lockett, formerly of The Funk Group Cameo. Toured with such acts as Gladys Knight and the Pips.
Fats says “I remember playing at the famous Apollo Theater when I was about seventeen with the famous singer Joe Tex. I can remember one song real good, "Skinny Legs Woman". Joe would have me playa funk beat while he would sing I Betcha didn’t see me now didn’t ya. He loved the way I played the drums for him.”
