Lou Johnson est né en 1941 à Brooklyn (New-York), c'est un chanteur, pianiste, percussionniste et il a sévi dans les années 60's et 70's.
Avant de débuter sa carrière solo, Lou Johnson a fait partie avec Valentine Adams des Zionettes of Denmark, sur le label SIMPSON RECORDS (206 et 214).
On le retrouve ensuite au sein des Canjoes (Dapt 208) avec Theresa Cleveland et Ann Gissendanner (deux futures Soul Sisters sur le label Sue).

Lou Johnson a eu deux compositeurs de renom Burt Bacharach, Hal David, leur collaboration a donné naissance à "If I Never Get To Love You" (Big Top 45-3115, 1962)
