Arthur Ponder, a life long Macon, Georgia resident, started his singing career in the 60s replacing Otis Redding in Johnny Jenkins & The Pinetoppers after Otis went solo.
Although he gigged extensively, he did not actually make it onto a record until around 1970.
Presented here, we have mostly his 80s Modern Soul output Solo and with local group Side Show, some with was released on 45 others remain unreleased till now.
Special thanks to Angelo Angione who went above and beyond to help with this project and Arthur Ponder - The Prince of Georgia Soul.
Arthur Ponder une très belle voix Soul.
Sur le titre "Lonely Girl" (A1) son timbre vocal me rappelle un artiste mais le nom ne me revient pas, sinon un peu Bobby Womack sur certaines notes.
Et son interprétation de"Sexy Lady" (A2) renvoie à Al Jarreau.
"Let's Get Together for the Wrong We Have Done" (A5) : très belle voix de la chanteuse (dont je n'ai pas trouvé le nom)
et Arthur Ponder fait une interprétation digne d'Otis Redding (frissons, tellement la ressemblance est forte lors du passage de la Soul en supplice, j'adore).
